Glen,
Just wanted to correct Richard Nerling's age so we don't scare away any
potential customers for him. I had lunch with Richard this past week where he
told me he was 62 years old, not 85. Richard takes care of my bird and I am
very pleased with his work as I see you are also. For the record, Richard is
the owner of Nerling Aviation at the Boyceville airport (3T3) He is an AP, IA
and C.F.I. and takes care of most of the Ercoupes in NW Wisconsin. He is an
outstanding Ercoupe man in my opinion.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] landing gear shims
I just came back from the shop that is working on my coupe, and what a
difference the shims have made! My tail is now up in the air, and measures 76.5
inches to floor. More importantly, the sills are perfectly level. My previous
measured height from tail to floor was 72". Hard to imagine, until you do the
math, that a 7/16" shim could lift the tail that much. Thanks to all who wrote
and suggested this fix. Now, the A&P is gonna check my magws, starter, and get
it purring like a kitten. He is 85 yrs old, owns Nerling Aviation in
Boyceville,Wisconsin and is doing a marvelous job!!!! I highly recommend him.He
was an A&P, 25 yrs old when my 46 Coupe was born!!!....Thanks for all who have
supported my project with this ole plane.
