Hey Rich: I have had good success using SEALUBE on the fuel valve as well
as other fittings. You must take the fuel valve out of the airplane,
dismantle it, and carefully clean it of all fuel residue. ( I find that
soaking in
100 Octane works quite well) It has even worked for me when all the parts
were not with/in the valve. Coat the entire inside of the valve with the
SEALUBE and re assemble. You will find that the valve works much more easily,
and will not leak.
I believe you can obtain SEALUBE from Aircraft Spruce, but there may
even be better products. I am not aware of them, however.

OBTW The valve is often quite difficult to disassemble. I have
resorted to soaking in 100 Octane for many hours and using a big pair of water
pump pliers to get it to yield. Good Luck!

My header fuel valve is leaking (not in the cabin but through to the carb)
and would like to know if it can be reconditioned/repaired. Univair and
Skyport do not have the valve any longer. Need it to work as my header
tank fuel gradually leaks through the carb over a few days to a week. BTW the
carb was rebuilt with the engine, just 30 hours ago. Maybe there's
something I can do with the carb but this is the third carb the engine shop
has
sent me, one stumbled, one the float failed, and now this leaky needle valve
(I presume). In any case I want to have the valve work when closed.
