I may have found the culprit;after several changes, I tried a different rubber antenae and viola! No static. II put my old antenae cable back on the radio, and clear as a bell. I think there was something interfereing wiht the way the cable locked onto the radio. I have ordered a new antenae cable, and think my problems are solved. Who would have thunk it. Gary
