I can confirm what John wrote, as far as UV penetration.  I took the  
manufacturer's specs that John read to me for the plexiglas Skyport  
sold ("0 transmissibility at [specified] wavelengths") and ran them  
by a friend whose degree was optical physics.  He said they  
translated to "no sunburn," and that has proven true whenever flying  
with windows closed.  (And with freckles, I'd get burned in 5 min.  
flat in SoCal, if it weren't accurate!)

Just FYI, aircraft Plexiglas blocks most UV radiation even in clear.   
Don't
know about the Home Depot stuff, though.
