READY TO GO TO THE "COUPE CONVENTION" Ready to go 7:30 AM Called 8 AM ---800 WX BRIEF from Caldwell Airport, NJ (CDW) • "A line of showers along flight your route with low visibility's -- forecast to improve by 9 AM. Called 9 AM. • "Lower visibility's, ridges obscured, (informative guy) call me in about 30 minutes." Called 10 AM • "Visibility's at 5 miles and clearing with slight chance of rain showers north of our route of flight," • O.K. We got our stuff loaded in the plane. And we're ready to go (Glen Davis and me) About ten minutes before we're ready to get in the plane the briefer calls me on my cell phone to advise me not to leave because a line of storms are moving south directly to our route of flight, O.K. so we're not going to the Ercoupe Convention. " Whata ya say we go for breakfast." Just then the tower now calls me to tell me that the briefer called them to advise us not to depart because of flight conditions. WOW ! In all my years of flying. I've never experienced anything like that.
That briefer had really gone beyond my expectations. I did call them back to thank them too. Sorry we couldn't make the convention, but we did have a great breakfast. Prof. Ed
