Hi Fred,

The Aircraft Spruce catalog has a wealth of information in it, including what arrangements are required for certified aircraft. As to TSO, it remains my belief that if equipment that was not original to an airframe when manufactured is available at a cheaper price (and is more likely to be installed) that clearly enhances the safe operation of said aircraft that TSO is NOT required by applicable regulations nor should it be required by the FAA to such extent as its mandate is increasing SAFE utilization of the nation's airspace.

The "bottom line" is likely you ability to find a A&P/IA who agrees with this philosophy and recognizes he represents YOUR best interests (as opposed to sucking up to those local FSDO people who refuse to approve anything these days.

The "easy" way is to get a kit from Skyport or Univair...their paperwork should get through even today ;<)

Regards,

WRB

I am re-covering the wings on my 415-C.  Now that I have the fabric off, it occurs to me that this might be a good time to install combination navigation/strobe lights on the wing tips to replace the nav-only lights that are there now.  Has anyone had experience doing so? Where would I go to buy them?  Must they be TSO'd?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks.
