One more consideration concerning metal wings on an Erco 415-- Forney and Alon went to metal wings, but they also increased max gross weight to 1450#-- basically a trade-off in useful load for the additional weight of metal wings compared to the 1400# max Erco with fabric wings. They also added more powerful engines, C-90 and O-200, respectively.
