I have a Garmin 396. Since my 415C has a panel mounted compass, I was able
to mount the GPS on the top of the panel. I fabricated a bracket that sets
on the panel and secured it to the square rod that is behind the windshield.
I removed the magnet from the XM antenna and attached the antenna to the top
of the panel with Velcro. This mounting makes the GPS very easy to view.
My wife and I have flown over much of the midwest and western half of the
country using this setup. The weather on the GPS is a wonderful feature as
are the TFR depictions.
