If I remember well, Weick's experimental Coupe (or one of his experimentals) had single vertical tail, which made it look conventional. The problem was to maintain directional trim control unchanged as speed increased or decreased. To achieve that, he had to cant the propeller axis to the right and also add area to the vertical fin. Later, with the introduction of the two fins and rudders, he noticed that the directional trim kept unchanged practically independent of throttle setting, as vertical surfaces were outside the slipstrim. Anyway, to overcome unsymmetrical effects, the propeller shaft axis was rotated some degrees to the right (three degrees I think).

If I remember the story correctly, he was experimenting with props. He will be doing considerable customizing on it. The details are too numerable to list. This will put the plane into the experimental category. He's asked me to check it out. So is there anyone who has an experimental category Ercoupe. & Wishing you all a Happy Healthy Holiday too! Prof. Ed No virus found in this incoming message.
