O.K. Coupers,
After receiving the Kit for Service Bulletin No. 31 from Univair (Wing
center section inspection)
I had all the parts primed & painted to the red color of my coupe. (Not
cheap either)
Now my mechanic started to do measuring according to the drawings supplied
by Univair.
After cutting and completing one 4 inch hole on each side.
And was certain to keep well clear of the rear spar using Univair kit
parts.
I should add that we informed Univair that we had 3 rows of beads -not
typical.
The Univair paper work was as clear as mud and wrong enough to cause you to
score / cut the spars which could lead you to the grave yard or to the
nearest salvage farm.
They gave me advice on how to go about accomplishing the job, Also many of
you also gave me excellent advise beforehand. Thank you all too.
We then proceeded to take a break for donuts and coffee when in came the
Feds,
Just to say, "Hello Ed, what's up?" (They happen to be old friends of mine)

At my airport that's not uncommon They were just curious.
I was originally told the drawing are all wrong by many of you.
My mechanic confirmed your comments too.
Since my plane has 3 rows of beads.
There are no approved drawings for this installation with 3 rows of beads
therefore
it was suggested that we look into the matter further before continuing.
O.K.
So my mechanic placed one 2 inch inspection hole and plate (Beech Part) on
each side.
So in that way enabling a Borescope view of both front and rear spars.
The installation is just fine as far as I'm concerned. My mechanic did make
a log book entry.
The purpose of the SB is to inspect the spars for corrosion which has been
accomplished
with a total of two holes on each side rather then four holes.
Univair (Rick) has been kind enough to consider giving me a refund on the
returned kit.
