I had a 295 I used in my Archer but when I got into the Ercoupe the sun wiped it out. Also I didn't like it so close to me using the yoke mount. I tried a sun shade on it which was OK but not to my liking. So I sold it and bought a Garmin Pilot III on Ebay. Installed it on the top of panel using velcro and the window center metal bar as the back support. It works OK but sun still a problem. We recently installed the overhead sun shield panel and that helps.

The downside is scanning. Steam gauges are easy to glance at while the Garmin is small and can be "washed out" by all the sunlight the canopy lets in. I find that to be true on my 396. Keep asking questions, there is a great deal of experience here.
