Dan,

I can tell you this, the top back part of the Ercoupe did bend, but it did
hold up and gave us room to move around. When we hit the snow our heads moved
forward and then back as we flipped. When it was all over, both of us had our
heads near the baggage compartment. We both feel that if we had shoulder straps
we may had broken our necks or could have been pinned worst and could not move
at all. Of course, this is just a feeling, but I do believe this for this type
of crash. This was the best way we could had ended up in the plane. I am now
working with the FAA and NTSB.

I would say weight. As I was shopping, I found too many Ercoupes that claimed
a 930 to 950 empty weight. With that weight and 144lbs of fuel, we are limited
to a 166 lb passenger and baggage limit. Since I weigh 215, that sure took
them from consideration! Even with the 1320 STC, I would barely be able to
carry my GPS and headset.
