Many Ercoupers, in particular those of us who have been around for awhile, had the pleasure of knowing Kelly and Edna Viets. We lost Kelly a few years ago and I just learned that Edna has also passed away. Please forgive me for using the "tech" forum for a non-tech issue.
Here is the email I received this morning from Flatland Fliers (aka EAA Vintage Chapter 16). Hello Flatland Flyers I have some sad news to report. I just learned through Cam Blazer that Edna Viets passed away today. For those of you who didn't know Edna, she was the wife of Kelly Viets. Kelly was one of the founders of our Chapter and Kelly restored a 1927 Travel Air 2000, Kelly and Edna also owned an Ercoupe for many years, as well as having previously owned Cam's Stinson. Kelly was president of the Ercoupe Association for several years. Kelly and Edna lived on the Lake Pomona Airport South of Topeka and were very active for many years in both the EAA and AAA. Kelly and Edna were wonderful people who were very good to me personally during my early years in the club. Their door was always open to airplane people and they hosted many fly-ins at their place at Pomona Airpark. The funeral arrangements will be taken care of by Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS this Thursday. The Visitation will take place at 1:00pm and the funeral at 2:00pm. Anyone who would like to be supportive of the family and help remember a fine aviator, is encouraged to attend.
