Just info for consideration. In the past I have been able to loosen red loctite by applying heat. An old soldering iron heated in fire till it is almost ready to melt applied to the bold will heat the loctite such that it is easier to loosen the bolt. Of course if the item is not anywhere close to flammables one can use an open flame to heat the bolt. Lee
Linda, Loctite Blue is relatively easy to disassemble, Loctite Red is quite difficult to disassemble and Loctite Green is impossible. Given the difficulty of getting a wrench on the fuel cap components, I'd use Blue #243. If your hardware store doesn't carry it, try your local AutoZone.
