Don: Please be careful when putting the valve back together. It is very
possible to put the handle on in a partially on/closed position (Don't ask me
how I know). In fact, that may be the problem with your valve - it has been
 assembled wrong.

Don.

If you have a leaking carburetor, you will have no other choice then
draing the header tank and then taking the fuel valeve apart. (after your
Chekride of course)
It is easily done. I did not need a heat device when I did that.
Clean and verify ease of function . Put back together.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Woe is Me (If not for bad luck, I would have no
luck at all)

I was out practicing my Ercoupe taxi skills today since I am not checked
out yet to fly (tomorrow the CFI is scheduled). Sure was tempting to just
make a circuit or two without a BFR or checkout when nobody was really
watching.
Anyhow, I turned on the fuel to start, turned it off when I was at the
fuel pumps refueling, back on to start again, the valve acted quite normal.
When I got back to the hangar, the darned fuel valve would not shut off! It
seems to be locked in the on position, I used a lot of force even, still no
turn off! Has anyone else had such a problem with the fuel shutoff valve?
