There are three things I should have included in my earlier post on this subject.
First, just to avoid confusion, the oil screen housing on the -8 engines is in a completely different location, above the oil pump outlet, which is why "lifting the tail" works on the -8 but not the other variants. Second, many Ercoupes have rubber lines going to the oil pressure gauge. Much easier to remove. Third, and much more important: If you manually activate the starter while following "my" procedure, *PLEASE* make sure you are clear of the prop arc! While the starter likely doesn't have enough oomph to kill you, it would certainly "leave a mark". -- John Skyport East www.skyportservices.net
