Excellent point, Donald Properly doped Grade A linen was not light. Neither (if memory serves me right) was Razorback.
No experience with Ceconite. Stits has a nice, tight weave. All in all I still believe painted metal wings subtract 32-40 lbs. from useful load (compared to properly finished modern fabric wings).
