Excellent point, Donald

Properly doped Grade A linen was not light. Neither (if memory serves
me right) was Razorback.

No experience with Ceconite. Stits has a nice, tight weave.

All in all I still believe painted metal wings subtract 32-40 lbs. from
useful load (compared to properly finished modern fabric wings).

John Kuhfahl's installation would appear to be the exception and not
the average.

Hey John,

I'm confused.

In a post back on 11/5/09 (reproduced at bottom) you described your
aluminum wing skin as .020 aluminum with 'total gain' 11 pounds"
according to N2138H logs".

No one promised easy achieving clarity with the written word ;<)
