My take too. The engine mount bolts are not part of the engine assembly (process). Besides, rubber mounts and oil shouldn't be mixed, IMHO.

The Continental manual refers in at least one place to the -16 engine having Lord mounts. This is *WRONG*. Only the -14 and the O-200 have Lord mounts. The Lord mount has a steel tube that runs through the whole assembly. When you torque the nuts you are tightening against the steel tube, not the rubber cushions, hence the higher torque.
