Donald. The seat comes out together with the seat pan. You need to unscrew the seat pan, lift it up and find the bolts that hold down the seat frame to the spars. If I remember right, there are two bolts. Look at the images sequence here: http://www.ercoupe.info/?n=Main.SeatRepair The frame shows two holes where the bolts are going through. You have to unscrew the rods for the seat belts as well, but this is obvious.

My problem is, I cannot get the seat out! And when I do, not sure what holds the side panels in place. I found the two bolts on the far upper outer ends of the seat frame, and the bottom hinges up. Apparently the triangle pieces of metal at the bottom seat back, that are attached to a long bolt reaching back to the next former holds the seat. Photo of a seat over at the Ercoupe Info Main Home page shows only one triangle piece back there, mine is SN 977, Is that all that holds the seat in place? The side panels seem to have some sort of a rod in their upper edge, but I cannot see any screws or bolts holding them.
