Most people don't realize, in high performance aircraft the rudder pedals
are used primarily to steer the airplane while taxiing and during the
takeoff roll. Once airborne, it's feet on the floor, baby. Start messing
around with the rudders at high angles of attack in any airplane and you're
going for a real hairy ride, i.e., some sort of departure from controlled
flight. Notice I said high angles of attack, not low airspeed. You can have
all kinds of smash then add g's and rudder and the back end may change
position with the front end after a fairly violent roll.
Consider the rudder as an artifact. It's the vertical stabilizer that
keeps the pointy end toward the front.
