It certainly sounds as if one of the impulse couplings has decided to go on vacation! This usually doesnt cause any major problems as a started engine is running at a high enough speed to disengage the coupling. Where it will give you a problem is if you try to start the engine on both mags. If possible, start the engine on the mag with the good Impulse coupling. I would not be afraid to fly the airplane to your nearest mechanic, but repeated flights would not be recommended. Jay Schumann A&P
