Rick. I'd try a fat wood screw first. Putting a bolt in seems difficult because you might not reach all screws that hold the floor board with the cover positively attached to the board.
As always, a picture would help a lot. There is a linkage cover that is supposed to attach to the floor at the very end beneath the pedals. Mine has a screw mising on each side, which allows the metal flex and to come towards the center and catch on the pedal linkage. The previous owner didn't seem to mind as there are gouges in both sides of the cover from the right pedal on the pilot side and the left pedal on the co-pilot side. Not only do I have a very sensitive 'feel' and do not like the extra pressure as the linkage moves against the cover sides, it also seems dangerous to me. I believe that underneath the carpet is wood. Can I just pull the sides of the metal cover back to the position they should be in and use a 'fat' 'short' wood screw to hold it in place? Or should I figure out a way to put a bolt with a nut on the back through the wood? Thanks, Rick 611GC
