If by butterfly bolt you are referring to a cheap spring loaded toggle bolt 
from the hardware store that you drill a huge hole in the floor so you can cram 
it through it and then screw in the long screw I would suggest that not be plan 
A. In fact the thought of it being plan Z creeps me out. But that might just be 
me. One of the few things you can use from the hardware store would be a wood 
nut. These either have a ring around them with three or so spikes on them that 
you can then tap them in with a hammer or some styles you screw them in. But 
the wood screw should do the trick. If the hole in the floor board is buggered 
up and the screws are already to much over sized you can fill in the hole with 
some kind of wood repair compound and drill a new one.
