Hitting reply only sends the reply to the person. If I click on the reply
arrow it gives me the option of replying to the sender or to all.

Ah, shucks.

Hitting <Reply to All> doesn’t fill in the e-mail address of the original
message’s sender, at least not in my e-mail program. It only puts in the forum
address.

So, if you want to reply to the individual, you’ll have to work a bit harder.
In my e-mail program, I can double click on the name in the field “On Behalf
Of” and it’ll bring up a window showing me that person’s e-mail address. Then,
I can cut and paste it into the address line of my response.

Sorry it’s not more convenient.

Still, please don’t send personal and inconsequential messages to all 700+
forum members.

Let me know what you think of the change after you get used to it.

Thanks,

Ed

The vote in the poll is not huge in numbers but it is 2/3rds for having <Reply>
send messages to the forum and only 1/3rd for having replies sent to the
individual.

Therefore, I’ve changed the default setting on both forums. Let’s see how it
works.

Please remember it’s polite to send “me too” messages (with no significant
content) and personal messages directly – and only – to the individual to whom
you are replying. This should still be easy: Just hit <Reply All> and then
delete the forum from the list of addressees.

Best wishes to you all,

Ed
