Tail wheel or nose wheel -all aircraft must have the correct
"ANGLE OF ATTACK"
before it can take off or even fly. No Difference really
 Also keep in mind the tail wheel was the replacement for the Tail skid
We might conclude that a scraping tail skid slowed the forward movement 
for take off thus raising the tail gave added speed for take off. 
Also the Tail skid, when on surface (not raised) gave the pilot a more
 positive control on the ground, 
The skid firmly on the ground also prevented ground loops
 because the plane dragged it's rear end. , Etc.
"Keep that stick in your lap while you taxi"     Too much to absorb? OK
