Dear Veterans,

Even though I may sometimes disagree with you on some issues, please know that
when it comes to your service to our country, you have my eternal respect and
gratitude.

Hey Darick: There are additional changes that need to be made. One is that
you need to split the bottom cowl in to two pieces. This allows it to be
removed
without removing the exhaust. I have had problems with the exhaust gaskets
fitting properly due to being slightly too large. I have seen engines with the
oil tank filler neck on the RH side instead of the left, and I do not know if
this will cause any interference or not. Continental made the tanks different
because of different aircraft configurations, and over the years some of these
have been incorporated on our Ercoupes.
I was originally working with Lee of Skyport (when
it was owned by Champion Aircraft) and we had a three page set of directions on
how to make the change. However, with my computer failures over the years, I
have lost those original directions. There was initially an error made in the
amount of down sweep in the LH exhaust. That is why Don is fitting this set to
make sure that the change has been made so the pipe will clear the engine
mount.

I believe another problem that was encountered was
that during a top overhaul, the exhaust flange of a cylinder may be cut down in
order to produce a flat surface to mount the exhaust on. This changes the angle
the exhaust fits on one side or the other, and causes the exhaust to leave the
cowling at a different position. So if you have new or used cylinders on your
engine, you could encounter a problem with fit of the cowling.
