I have the controversial sunshade option for my coupe. I like it because of the Texas heat, but have also often wished for more visibility. I decided that it needed a skylight cut into it, so I ordered the same rubber weatherstripping used to install the rear quarter windows and a piece of 2' x 2' plexiglass. I traced an outline of the size I wanted onto the sunshade, then using my trusty Dremel tool, I cut it out; making sure to round the corners and file everything smooth when finished. Then I cut the plexiglass to fit the inner channel and installed it in the same manner that you would install the rear windows. It's a tight fit and I can't imagine it popping out in flight. When I bow the sunshade to fit in the window track, the plexiglass contours perfectly. Now, when I need more sun protection, I can use a piece of stick-on grey plastic, but I still have the visibility and can just run it clear in the cooler months. Should be nice for night flying, too! Since the sunshade was an accessory, it's a minor mod according to my IA. I'll post pictures after it's installed.
Later, Dave
