Hi Bart,
The original spinners from ERCO had no front plate. See the Parts
Manual.
When spinners were found to crack a lot "in the field", a front plate
was found to reduce the frequency of failures.
It's like the terneplate tanks...if they didn't crack in a certain
number of hours, they were usually good more or less forever.

Seems like I heard the spinner would crack without the front plate so
