CHT reacts too slowly to use for leaning, but, with a Stromberg carb, the safest procedure is to lean for maximum RPM then enrich the mixture until the RPM just starts to fall off. If you are above 7000' there is no need to enrich the mixture as the engine cannot develope enough power to do itself any damage regardless of the mixture.
