That's my point exactly. I've had to warn my friend about "missing paperwork"
because some people try to slip an upgraded C (really a D) across as a C that
is light sport. It happened to me but I didn't buy that airplane, thankfully.
I've also noticed on Barnstormers or Trade-a-Plane that someone bought a C on
good faith from the seller and it turned out to be a D. The inconsistancy also
rises to people describing an upgraded C as a CD or C/D, probably an honest
mistake but further confusing the issue.
