Linda; Congratulations on saving a life. I have never had to make a off hard surface emergancy landing. I do practice and stress the importance of practice, specially with the coupe that glides very different with power off. It is not just the case of saying, "AH! There is a nice level dry looking field to practice an emergency landing, let me get in position..." As a rule over my forty uears of flying, every time I sneeze, or my passenger sneezes, it is my cue that I have to practice an emergency landing. Immediately after the sneeze I power down and just then start looking for a landing spot. A real emergency will never happen at the right time. Alan Fairclough N87333 N94694
