Hey Dave: Yes the baffles are a pain. I do not have any instructions except
to look at the engine installation on page 21 of the Ercoupe parts
Catalog. You put item 30 and 31 in place first. The thin stainless parts go
over
the top of the push rod tubes and then down into #29 which is placed between
the two sets of push rod tubes for each cylinder. The ends of the thin
parts are bent over the bottom edge of #29. The straight side of the thin
baffle goes against the straight part of the cylinder fins. It easier to get
it together if you put the thin pieces (30, 31, 32, 33 etc) in place then
work #29 up between the push rod tubes with the ends of the thin pieces
coming down and out of #29. You pull them as tight as you can and then bend
the
ends over the edge of #29. You can see how #29 goes because of the cut outs
for the rubber seals on the push rod tubes.
The wire from parts 30 and 31 goes up between the cylinders. Then you
put items 32 and 33 on the front and rear of the cylinders with the thin
piece going over the top of the push rod tubes like 30 and 31, You put the
spring wires (34 35 34A) as shown in the Figure 17 (page 21) together and
then pull the wire sticking up from # 30 and 31 into the spring on 35 as
shown on the upper part of the drawing.
Once you have done it a couple of times it is not so bad, but if you
have never done it I can understand why it is a problem.
If you make a copy of Figure 17 on your computer and then blow up the
pieces of the Figure 17 to 200 or 250 % you may be able to better
understand. All the pieces are not given numbers, so it is tough to cover them
all.

John,
I think I am OK on the oil sump baffles.
My problem is all the baffles around the cylinders. If you have
info/diagrams/instructions for those, I'd be most grateful.

Can anybody direct me to, or send me, a detailed diagram and instructions
for installing the cooling baffles on a 1320 lb Coupe? (or a D model,
since they are the same, I understand).
The 415C and CD all use the same baffling regardless of whether or not the
1320 lb STC has been installed. [Only] Aircraft certified under A787
require additional baffling on the oil tank if other than a C75 is installed.
So, exactly what do you need? I have several diagrams that show how the
standard baffling is to be installed. Let me know what area you are
concerned with and I will get you the right drawing.
