OK... I had not realized that there were 2 different locations for eric
preferences:
1. ~/.config/eric6
2. ~/Eric6
not sure why there are both locations, but I found the Language pref in
~/Eric6/eric6prefs.ini.

I just noticed error messages in my "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?", "Nein,
NEIN!" problem...
Upon startup, the Console shows:
mikem@othala:~$ eric6
QApplication: invalid style override passed, ignoring it.
*Warning: translation file 'qt_de'could not be loaded.*
Using default.
and in the Eric GUI:
*Warning: translation file 'git_de' could not be loaded.*
Using default.
Note the difference between "qt_de" and "git_de".
Does this help anyone with more knowledge of qt to know what's wrong?
Thanks in advance,

After a crash, my eric6 is now in German rather than my default English.
FYI: I'm on Ubuntu 16.04 linux, 64 bit with eric6 18.05 recently
installed (from tarball).
I don't see any language setting in Preferences at all... so I've
tried to figure out how Qt might be affecting it, but I know nothing
of it, so no progress there.
I've completely removed my ".eric6" prefs directory, and my most
recent project directory as well. (Just renaming them out of the
way...) but no help.
The only way I've gotten it to startup in English again is by logging
in as a different user.
Any pointers greatly appreciated!
