Just a note to everyone on the list about the slowdown with Erlware. Eric
and I have realized it and are taking steps to get back to more serious
development and keep this moving forward. New jobs and writing our book has
taken a toll, the biggest problem however was just that we got into a
routine that did not involve the kind of committed effort that we used to
put in. As a result things have slowed down.

We are tired of being slow and are moving to kick this all in the ass again.
We have already taken the following steps to get back into the fast lane.
We are now leaving work early each thursday and getting together for a
period of 5 hours to do nothing but development on Erlware. We are doing
the same each Sunday for even more hours.

Call for participation. For those of you that are interested in helping now
is the time to get reenergized and pitch in. Our biggest problem areas
right now are:

- Moving from one Erlang release to another R12B-3 to R12B-4 etc... Dave
Smith and Dave Peticolas are working on this problem and looking to automate
it. Help them if you are interested. I have just released a new faxien
version that allows searching just for particular Erlang versions to aid in
that process.

- Portius and repository management. The portius service guards our repos,
it moves packages from our repo.erlware.org/writable repo to the pub repo
and in the process vets the package for quality and builds any available
documentation for inclusion on our website. This thing needs lots of
attention. I can't maintain it and Faxien both and so Portius is lagging
behind. If you want to do some really important and interesting Erlang
development here is a good place to start and own something really cool in
the process.

- Unix admin help and general site and server management. We need to move
our server from one machine to another. This means moving repos, changing
DNS, setting up security, automating things for our website, and lots lots
more. If you have expertice here your help would be fantastic.

Regardless of what happens one thing is happening and that is you should see
more out of Erlware moving forward. We have not forgotton about Erlware at
all.

Cheers,
Martin
