Yes, the reason for that is a user experience issue we are working on a solution for. The reason is this, lets say you have faxien version X and the highest ERTS version it knows about is 5.5.3. When you go to search packages it will only search up to that version. When you upgrade faxien itself to faxien version X+1 it may know about 5.5.4 and when you upgrade will search up to that ERTS version and find a later version of faxien that knows about X+2. The best thing to do is to run faxien upgrade-release faxien until it can't find any higher versions - then you know you have the latest greatest which is configured for the latest erts release.
Zishan is actively working on the solution for this issue and a few others and reporting updates almost daily.
