Well, I haven't given up just yet, at least for my own purposes (and
my future :). Here is a *really interesting* stack that I came across
just yesterday...

They also favor JQuery for the js front end (my personal choice also)
so JSON stuff sent to mochiweb via nginx does seem to *feel* like the
right way ahead.

...btw Martin Carlson's psql driver works pretty good if you use it
directly and the code seems well organized/designed to me.
