Which is the best Operative System to run ErMapper?

Hullo all!

I usually process huge ECW images. According to ErMapper Tecnnical Services I should 
be able to generate an output image bigger than 4 Gb. However, I have never produced 
one because the software appears to colapse when the output has runned 4 Gb of data.  
I have tried three different Operative Systems (W95, W98 and W2000). My request is 
addressed to any person that had worked with any of the mentionated OS. 
According to your experience, which of these OS do you think that offers the best 
efficiency?
