I have similar problem "ERS raster error: Error while reading of file
e:\*.ers" on
ERMapper 6.2, Windows NT 4.0 sp5 on a Dual Pentium3.
The error happens non-stable, even on algorithms and data that worked
properly on ERMapper 6.1. Algorithm with formulae "ABS(I1-I2)" runs properly,
but the same with "IF(ABS(I1-I2) < 5) THEN I1 ELSE I2" produces the error.
I attribute the error to my mistake witch i had made by installing ERMapperSDK
into the same directory as ERMapper. I had repeated upgrading over
ERMapper6.2,
but perhaps this does not clear fully a mess of lib directory. I expect that
full
re-installation of ERMapper will improve the situation.

Subject: RE: Problems with ECW Compression
Hi,
assuming the physical file is not corrupt, and the imagery displays
correctly in ER Mapper (even when zoomed to 1:1), there are several possible
HW/SW problems that may cause this:
1. Hard disk(s) may have errors - try running scandisk
2. You may have faulty RAM
3. You may have a faulty HD controller
4. You may have an OS/driver issue
You should be able to download diagnostic software for your
RAM/controller/motherboard from their respective manufacturers (or the
system builder, eg Dell, Compaq etc).
There may be some sort of driver or BIOS issue, so it's worth running
through the major components in the system checking for updates (NT Service
Pack 6a, BIOS, chipset driver, HDD controller, video etc). I know video
etc. drivers may sound like a cop-out, but if, for example, your video card
is generating too many interrupts due to a driver/HW problem, it may affect
the HD controller causing IO errors. There are many such complex
interactions in a modern system that are usually not obvious.
If none of these help, it would be worth contacting the UK support people
directly to resolve the issue.
Regards,
