ok, then that would explain why importing it as an ASCII grid works just
fine - i tried that last night.  i suppose that puts me back at square one
with regards to why the gridding wizards rotates it 180 degrees.

and i'd also like to point out that the header field in the .txt file
explicitly says the data is indeed in x, y, and z format.

just in case you are wondering, i've got about 80 of these ASCII files,
which is why i was using the gridding wizard instead of importing each one
as an ASCII grid one at a time.

any more suggestions?
