>Is it possible to drape a single channel, greyscale, tiff image over an

An Intensity layer replaces the intensity component of the Pseudo layer,
so if you are using a greyscale color table, all the intensity is replaced
(thus you don't see the Pseudo layer data). If you want to combine a
shaded DEM with a greyscale image, try using 2 surfaces. In the top
surface, put your greyscale image. In the lower surface, put your shaded
DEM. Then set the top surface's Transparency to 30-50% to blend in
some of the shading from the DEM. This will look similar to a colordrape.
