actually, there is a command line executable for exporting MrSid files to .tif/tfw files.  it's called mrsid_retrieve.exe, and you can probably get it free of charge from lizardtech if you email them.  they were kind enough to do that for me.

it takes a little work to figure out the syntax if you export the images out to anything but a 1:1 pixel ratio, but i've got a little wizard that works with the executable that will do the trick.  if you can get a hold of the executable from lizardtech (i'm not sure if i can just send you my copy), then i'll give you the wizard.

i do exactly what you are describing all the time.  sometimes, with thousands of MrSid images.

Subject: Batch decompress of MrSID files

Hi all,

I'm working on a project which requires the converting of over 100 MrSID files into reprojected ECW files.  I don't have any MrSID products other than the free GeoViewer which I've been using to manually export them into GeoTiff files.  This is a fairly slow process and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to speed it up.  Here's the procedure I'm curretnly using:

MrSID --> GeoTiff ---> Batch Reproject with ERM --> Batch compress to ECWs

There is no command line decompression for the MrSID GeoViewer that I could find.  I do have access to ArcGIS 8.1, but the only license we have allows use to compress 50Mb files into MrSIDs, there are no batch decompression tools that I could find.

Thanks for you help.
