Hello Nicholas,

I understand the US office has contacted you directly regarding your query,
however for the benefit of other list members I will also reply here.

We have recently created a paper titled "Accelerating WebGIS with Image Web
Server" which is available for download from the ER Mapper website at
http://www.ermapper.com/marktng/articles/pdf/Accelerating%20WebGIS%20with%20
Image%20Web%20Server.pdf. The paper aims to demonstrate the numerous
advantages to utilising Image Web Server to accelerate a typical WebGIS/Map
Server solution.

Included in the paper are benchmark figures for a low-end system, using
these results it is possible to extrapolate typical requirements for a range
of situations.

For example, using the normalised results the test system required
approximately 16% of the test systems CPU resources to maintain a 1 second
response time to 50 simultanoues clients (ie, 50 clients receiving 100%
update of the view every second). Therefore, the same system could
potentially achieve a 1 second response time with 200-250 simultaneous
clients at 80% CPU (50 * 80 / 16 = 250). An equivalent system to this today
from a Tier-1 manufacturer such as Dell is approximately US$1,850.

Regards
