I just reviewed the functionality planned for ER Mapper 6.4, and map projection
improvements will be a big part of that release.  The goal is to make it easier
to add and manage map projections, and also to work with images that don't have
full map projection information to start with (for example TFW and JPW files
which have extents but not projection info).
