A much simpler/faster method is to use 'gridfloat' in ArcInfo. After that, all that is
necessary is to remove the extension from the resulting file and create a .ers file. I
simply copy and rename an existing file and edit it. All the necessary values can be
found if you 'describe grid' in arcinfo. Remember to specify -9999 as the null value,
as this is the default in ArcInfo.

Nick,

I also had the same problems importing ArcInfo grids and now use the following:
Create an ascii file (gridascii) and then use an gawk (NT awk) script to
reformat/calculate the resultant file into an XYZ ascii grid file and then
inport into ERM with Utilities>Import Gridding Formats>Import>XYXZAscii to
create the DEM. Works ok at this end. Hope this helps.
