Thanks for the information! Do you mean GeoMedia 5 with 5.00.23.40 Hot Fix? The only thing different between our two configurations is that I am running Windows 2000 Pro Service Pack 3. You are using a UTM projection? Would you be able to provide a copy of your GeoTIFF tag? You can use the following program (it runs at the command prompt - just go to the folder and then type listgeo TIFF NAME). Here is the path:

 

the listgeo.exe standalone executable (delivered in ...\Program Files\GeoMedia\Program) can be used to dump out the contents of the GeoTIFF tagset.

 

The .tfw files were created using the ESG utilities - an additional purchase by a 3rd party vendor. I created the .tfw files for a "just in case" type of environment. However I have been able to view the header using the ISRU tools.

Here at the Brisbane City Council we have not had to perform this taskh owever we have taken the opportunity to test your issue out. Our results are successful however I should explain our software versioning.

 

ER Mapper 6.3

GeoMedia 5 with 5.00.23.50 Hot Fix

Windows 2000 Service Pack 2

 

It is interesting to note that my ER Viewer version 2.0c software states that the properties of the GeoTIFF is version 6.2 and not 6.3, UTM coordinate type.

 

I might add that I am a bit surprised that you have a corresponding .tfw file. The existence of this file intimates to me that you have ER Mapper created ESRI GeoTIFFs. The ESRI GeoTIFF format that you see writes the Georeferencing information into the tfw file. A true GeoTIFF has the georeferenced information within the raster header.

All,

I was wondering if by chance anybody has produced GeoTIFFs from ER Mapper
and then tried to view in Intergraph'sG eoMedia. I have created a few and am
not having any luck inserting them in GeoMedia as GeoTIFFs. I keep getting
an error saying "Unrecognized DataF ormat" or words to that extent. They
work fine when I use the .tfw.

Any ideas/thoughts?
