Oh, c'mon now!
Doug and I know and respect each other well enough to be able to exchange
a good-natured jibe when the other has it coming. Doug does indeed know
what he's talking about, about most of the things he talks about. The
Peroxide experience Rotary had while operating the ATV was a rare exception,
and I felt that allusions were being made to safety problems which weren't
there.
He was obviously and admittedly, "Kinda sorta" trolling on the subject, in
favor of his favorite oxidizer, and serious operational questions were being
asked on the subject. He has made excellent points in favor of the use of
LOX under the right circumstances.
I maintain that my comment was intended to be a gentle but deserved jibe,
and is unworthy of any "heat" you've caught. Doug is not a hyper-sensitive
kind of guy, and he definitely has a sense of humor and the ability to hold
his own in any banter. I feel certain that he would let me know if he were
offended, and he hasn't. However, in the future I shall "be nice" here, as
it's defined here.
Now, do you guys want to do something with some rockets, or do you want to
spend your energy maintaining a sanctuary for Political Correctness?

Subject: [ERPS] Naming names
Hey folks,
Seems we've generated some heat, some of which I am catching, in the
recent discussions about who did what at Rotary and how safe it was.
While discussions about Rotary are certainly on topic, we need to keep
them civilized. "He wasn't there, so he doesn't know what he's
talking about," is a clear violation of netiquette. I will reiterate,
for those of you who haven't heard it several times before, that it is
possible to disagree with someone without ridiculing them, and that I
recommend this approach highly. I'm now going to put on my VP hat and
make it official: "Do not diss other list members."
Another thing that might help is avoiding talking about individuals.
Talking about companies and positions makes it easier to avoid
finger-pointing and name-calling.
In other words, everyone be nice, OK?
