Both Beal and the British Black Knight program used silver plated screens with kerosene injected below the pack. This is positively not a scaling problem. Kerosene lights easy, it is ethane that is troublesome to light, and I would guess that larger engines with more volume increase the chance of getting the initial ignition going.
