Many months ago there was a bit of discussion on this list about data
acquisition boards for static testing. We had picked up a 4 channel
unit, but it seems to be limited - both by being four channel and its
reliance on a proprietary software that has upgrade charges for
additional functionality and little or no documentation for writing more
useful software.

That unit will not suffice for POGO, Spike, bipropellants, or other
engines we'll be testing down the road. I have just purchased an Omega
DAS802 that Doug mentioned back on the old thread. Looks perfect for
what we'll be needing (8 channel, 12 bit, more samples/second than we
need. :-)). Also has sufficient documentation to write custom software
for it if we want. (I'll probably write a Linux driver for it just to
write a Linux driver.) I'm going to grab one of the unused Borg machines
to install it in and play with it. If all looks good with it Friday
night, we'll try it out at Sunday's test. We'll take the old box with us
just in case though.

Dave
