Reports and discussion on agenda items were as follows: CMT --- Kevin Bollinger Kevin will be conducting tests and/or passivation of a sparger for a third party. DOCUMENTATION ------------- Chris Winter Dave M brought the six copies of TurboCad 8 to the meeting. These were distributed to the Windows users who will be principal contributors of CAD drawings. It has been decided that such drawings may be sent via the ERPS list as attachments. However, they will be rejected if larger than 40 KB. As an alternative, a way of distributing CAD drawings via FTP or HTTP is being prepared. Michael and Chris will be collaborating on redesign of the ERPS Web site as their time permits. InfoTech -------- Sean Lynch Nothing to report LIAISON & PAO ------------- Michael Wallis Randall brought the nitrogen tank from XCor. It will be placed at CDI. LOGISTICS --------- Sean Lynch Nothing to report TREASURER --------- Michael Wallis Chris Winter Chris reported the current balance in our account. No funds were disbursed at this meeting. CHIEF SCIENTIST --------------- Kevin Bollinger Kevin has obtained a number of parts from Lockheed surplus (?). Quite a few will be valuable to us. FLIGHT CONTROLS --------------- Bill Clawson Bill has purchased a number of parts for Gizmocopter, including some power FETs and a quad DAC IC. The latter will be used with a NE555 timer IC operating as a sawtooth generator to produce PWM signals for motor control. Design of this circuitry is under way. PROPELLANTS ----------- Pierce Nichols Final construction steps of Pierce's sparger are scheduled for Saturday, testing of the unit for Sunday. Ben reported favorable results from the freezing-process tests. Kevin says that a third party will be storing large, large quantities of HTP at the Ranch. It appears that their permit will cover us like an umbrella. REGULATORY AFFAIRS ------- Randall Clague Nothing to report SAFETY ------ Dave Masten Safety is back. TESTING ------- Dave Masten A static test of KISS 3 is scheduled for Sunday, 22 September, with prep at CDI the preceding day. Kevin informs us that 100+ F temperatures are expected at the Ranch, so the plan is to accomplish the tests as early as possible. The water tank at the Ranch is filling. However, there appears to be another leak. Chuck will be contacted to get details on this. The flight tests are still planned for the second weekend of October at Mojave. Dave M has purchased a fast 8-channel 12-bits/ch A/D board for use in engine-test data acquisition. Gizmocopter ----------- Bill Clawson Dave M has completed most of the low-level code. Robert Lasater, experienced in real-time software, volunteered to assist with code development. See also the entry for Flight Controls, above.
