Basically, it's a flat sheet that you can fold into whatever shape.
Push a button, it remembers that shape.  Push another button later (same
device, or another you've copied the files to - computer controls, not
shape memory alloy), and it returns to that shape.  It's an improvement
on some systems currently being used for deformable wings, though this
patent itself focusses on using it for hand tools, for instance as a
single unit replacement for a tool kit.
